Cranshaw has constructed thousands of multi-family housing units using Energy Star and LEED design and construction methods, and have achieved LEED Gold and Platinum certification on close to twenty projects in the Greater Boston area. We are experienced managing building envelope, mechanical, electrical and related systems to help to develop cost-efficient projects, while maintaining low energy consuming buildings. Working closely with subcontractors, we address LEED at project kick off to meet its construction requirements, including pollution prevention, waste management, product approvals and commissioning. We are able to routinely average well over the higher tier of 75% recycled or salvaged construction waste from our projects.
Understanding the sensitivity to environmental impacts, Cranshaw has recently deployed pre-construction services on projects requiring Passive House and Zero Net Energy (ZNE) design standards. Over twenty of Cranshaw’s project managers and field personnel are Phius Certified Passive House Builders (CPHB) and we continue to expand our training and support on this program. Several passive house projects are in construction or development stages, one involving Cross-laminated Timber (CLT) hybrid construction.
