Riane Ragno Named Winner of the PWC Boston Community Impact Award!
Cranshaw Construction is thrilled to announce Diversity & Workforce Coordinator Riane Ragno as the well-deserved recipient of the Community Impact Award presented by the Professional Women in Construction (PWC) Boston Chapter on the evening of October 19, 2023 at their Awards Gala at Artist for Humanity in Boston, Massachusetts.
Riane’s selection embodies the mission and values of the PWC Boston Chapter, which are dedicated to supporting, advancing and connecting women while promoting diversity within the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and related industries.
The selection committee evaluated candidates on their personal commitment to diversifying the industry, the sustainable impact on individual career opportunities, their investment in promoting awareness of the AEC industry, engagement with students and the community, and fostering industry partnerships.
Riane actively collaborates with trade partners to diversify the workforce, resulting in significant growth in M/WBE participation and workforce diversity on Cranshaw’s projects. Her initiatives, such as OSHA 10 Training and expanding job fair participation, have connected individuals with opportunities in the construction industry. She also contributes to the PWC Boston DEIB Committee, amplifying her impact and advocating for expanding opportunities, particularly for historically marginalized individuals.
“Riane Ragno is a force of positive change in our company. With her unwavering dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, Riane is a true champion of progress, and it was an honor to nominate her for this well-deserved award,” said Chris Iannelli, Principal of Cranshaw Construction.
Due to a prior scheduling conflict, Riane was regrettably unable to accept the award in person. However, she did share a heartfelt statement, expressing her gratitude, saying, “I’m deeply honored to be recognized with PWC Boston’s Community Impact Award.” Riane extended her thanks to the selection committee, her colleagues, and all those who have been part of her remarkable journey, with a special acknowledgment of PWC’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee of which she is a member. She continued, “This award holds immense significance for me because my dedication to advancing women in construction runs so deep. It’s particularly gratifying to know that there are others who share my vision for enhancing the diversity of this extraordinary industry.”
Finding a strong parallel to its mission, PWC partners with Artists for Humanity, a nonprofit dedicated to providing mentorship and career opportunities in arts and design to underserved local teens and hosts their Awards Gala at AFH’s inspiring venue. PWC commissioned artwork from AFH’s talented young artists for its awards. Riane received a vibrant, unique and beautiful piece of artwork as her award certificate entitled Circus and designed by Kyra Crawford.
Cranshaw Construction extends its appreciation to the PWC Boston Chapter for selecting Riane to receive this award, which reflects her exceptional contributions to the firm.
