Cranshaw Marks the Grand Opening of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony in South Boston
BOSTON, MA — June 8, 2026 — Cranshaw Construction proudly celebrates the grand opening of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony, marking the completion of a transformative, multi-phase redevelopment in South Boston.
Cranshaw contributed to this landmark effort through the delivery of Phase 3A and Phases 4/5, constructing a total of 343 units, including 135 units in Phase 3A (completed in 2021) and 208 units in Phases 4/5 (completed in 2024), advancing the broader vision of a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable neighborhood.
The milestone event brought together a broad coalition of partners, including representatives from the Boston Housing Authority (BHA), Beacon Communities, federal, state, and local government leaders, union partners, and the residents whose advocacy and vision helped guide the project for nearly two decades.
The redevelopment represents a comprehensive reinvestment in the community, delivering modern, high-quality, and energy-efficient housing for more than 1,400 residents, along with improved connectivity, open space, and community-centered amenities.
“This is a project that came out of the advocacy of Old Colony residents,” said Kenzie Bok, Administrator of the Boston Housing Authority. “To accomplish something like this, you just need so many folks at the table with the same goal: building better housing, great jobs, and investing in our residents.”
During the event, U.S. Representative Stephen F. Lynch reflected on growing up in the original Old Colony housing and the profound impact the community had on his family. “Housing is a core element of the American Dream,” Lynch shared. “This housing development provided my family with a safe, affordable place at a time when we were struggling financially.”
The grand opening also featured remarks from:
- Project partners from the Boston Housing Authority and Beacon Communities
- Mayor Michelle Wu, City of Boston
- Danielle Bastarache, Massachusetts Undersecretary for Public Housing, Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC)
- Mark Teden, Vice President of Multifamily Programs, MassHousing
- Senator Nick Collins and Representative David Biele, Massachusetts Legislature
- Chaton Green, Business Agent, Greater Boston Building Trade Unions
Developed in partnership with Beacon Communities and the Boston Housing Authority, the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony stand as a national model for public housing redevelopment. “What you see is the patience, the trust, the expertise, the perseverance required to reimagine an entire community” said Darcy Jameson, Vice President of Development at Beacon Communities. “New homes, new roads, infrastructure, improved connections and views, sustainable design, and at its heart, the Tierney Learning Center.”
“This project represents the kind of impact we strive for: delivering high-quality affordable housing while strengthening the fabric of the community,” said Chris Iannelli, Principal | Residential & Public at Cranshaw Construction. “With the long-term partnership of Beacon Communities with the public sector, the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony are a powerful example of what can be achieved when everyone aligns around a shared vision.”
Congratulations to Beacon Communities, the Boston Housing Authority, our architectural partners at The Architectural Team, and our Owner’s Project Manager, WaypointKLA, on achieving this milestone.
